The Inception

The first Manhattan College Cross Country Invitational was held at Van Cortlandt Park, founded by Ed Bowes with just a few hundred runners from local New York City schools.

1985

National Recognition

The meet evolved into a national-level event, attracting powerhouse teams from across the Eastern Seaboard and establishing the Eastern States Championship as a "must-win" title.

2012

The 40th Anniversary

Celebrating four decades of racing, the meet hit a record-breaking 10,000+ finishers in a single day, cementing its status as the largest high school XC meet in the USA.

2022

50 Years Strong

A half-century of tradition was celebrated with a special commemorative event, honoring the legends of the sport who once graced the hills of VCP.
